As I stood outside in the rain among a sea of Eritrean youth predominately 10—23 years-old on Friday proudly singing the Eritrean National anthem, I asked myself, “What am I doing here?” I was in Washington, DC, on August 29, 2008 and it was the opening ceremony to the 4th annual Y.P.F.D.J. (Young People’s Front for Democracy and Justice) Eritrean Youth Conference of North America. Try saying that ten times with a mouth full of hambasha. |

North American Conference Culminates Momentum in Washington DC
Young Eritreans from all over the world participated in the 2008 YPFDJ – North America Conference in Washington DC. The three-day conference began Friday with opening ceremonies from the hosting committees and group presentations from chapters around North America and Europe. Over thirty YPFDJ chapters were in attendance from countries spanning the United States, Canada and Europe combined.

On Saturday July 26th Atl-YPFD in association with Bahlna Entertainment hosted the Helen Meles Concert in Atlanta. Having several hundred attendees the event was a tremendous success that highlighted the great strives YPFDJ is making within the community. |
